ECONOMIC BENEFITS
  • The $80million construction project of Brighton Homes Arena has been delivered in partnership with The Federal Government, Queensland Government, Ipswich City Council, AFL and Brisbane Lions.
  • Up to 240 fulltime jobs were created during each year of the construction including up to 24 new apprenticeships as part of the Queensland Government’s Building and Construction Training Policy.*
  • The ongoing operation of Brighton Homes Arena is anticipated to support approximately 451 jobs in the local region each year: in cafes and restaurants, finance and business services, education, health, community, cultural and recreational services, contributing $30.1 million each year to the local region*.
  • Overall, including the construction period, the development of the project is expected to result in a contribution to the local area and Ipswich LGA of approximately $47.8 million (GRP)*.

SOCIAL BENEFITS FOR WIDER SPRINGFIELD
  • 250 fulltime Brisbane Lions’ staff will work at Brighton Homes Arena.
  • The AFL and Brisbane Lions predict 200,000 people will visit the site each year in the first few years .
  • AFLW Premiership matches with an average of 5,000 spectators are expected to draw in 20% of crowds from outside of Brisbane.
  • Weekly media coverage of Brighton Homes Arena is expected with both AFL and AFLW teams training in Springfield along with AFLW and Lions’ VFL home games played across the season.
  • The Brisbane Lions’ network includes over 300 corporate connections with business through sponsorship and corporate hospitality, all expected to enjoy events at Brighton Homes Arena each year.
  • Brighton Homes Arena is listed as an IOC approved venue for the Ipswich region for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics, offering amenities for up to 10,000 spectators and elite recovery facilities for the athletes.
